What to expect in Jasper
If you're looking for a quintessential Canadian Rockies town, Jasper is a great option. This picturesque community is located in the heart of the Banff National Park and offers plenty of activities and sights to keep visitors entertained for days on end.
When planning your trip to Jasper, it's important to consider what time of year you'll be visiting. The town experiences its most popular months, July and August, during peak tourist season. However, there are other months when conditions are more favourable, such as January or February. Regardless of the time of year you visit, make sure to pack your sunscreen! Also, when you go for a Trip it is a must to get insured because no one knows what happened to you in the future and Canadian medical coverage is very expensive that anyone can afford. So, it is perfect to get Insurance coverage. Insurance4u provide the best Insurance coverages that fit your need.
Jasper is home to world-renowned attractions like Mount Assiniboine and Lake Louise. However, the town isn't just about sightseeing - there are also plenty of restaurants and shopping venues available for visitors to explore. Be sure to check out the local artisan shops or head over to the nearby ice cream shop for some sweet treats.
5 Things to do in Jasper, Alberta
Here are the 10 things that you must try while you go for a trip in Canada:
-
1. Go for Ice Skate at Lake Mildred
Lake Mildred is Jasper's largest skating body of water and hockey rink. It’s also one of the two Kettle Lakes, meaning they were formed during the end of the ice age! When it’s not wintertime these lakes become turquoise blue like Pyramid Lake. It makes for great skating with a mountain view. Skateboarding is permitted on the lake! Take your own or rent some at the Lodge!
-
2. Walk on Ice through Maligne Canyon
The Maligne Canyon IceWalk is one of the most talked about hikes in Jasper, credited with being majestic and simply the best. The hike is fairly easy and provides an Instagram-ready shot a lot of people can’t resist sharing on social media. The hike requires two days of freezing conditions, so make sure you're prepared for that! No matter if you try it solo or sign up for a guided tour through Sun Dog Tour Company's expert guides, there's no denying that this stunning hike will take your breath away.
-
3. Hit the Slopes at Marmot Basin
A popular activity to do in Jasper is to hit the slopes at Marmot Basin Ski Resort. There are so many trails at Marmot Basin, nearly 100 over 4 different mountains, so there's something for all skill levels. But even if you just want to go up and down a few times and then hit the lodge, that's still a pretty lovely time too.
-
4. Go Dog Sledding in the Rockies
For Valentine's Day a few years ago, I went dog-sledging in the Canadian Rockies! We went with Cold Fire Creek Dog Sledding. This company advertises as a top Google search for "Jasper dogsledding" but it actually takes place near Vale mount some 120 km (one-hour drive) west of Jasper. We had an awesome time and Cold Fire Creek is actually promoted through Tourism Jasper too, but there are dog sledging opportunities in Jasper too- during January, like this year, Cold Fire Creek also offers shorter dog sledging experiences on Pyramid Lake!

5. Enjoy yourself at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
When visiting Jasper, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge does not disappoint. From the cabins to the grounds, the staff and the hospitality, everything is absolutely lovely. We've experienced their events and each time is a new experience. There's never a dull moment at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. In addition to treating yourself with a stay while you're there, consider attending some of their events such as Christmas or Devour Food Film Festival.
